Delta del Po

A unique and exclusive guided tour by electric boat and on foot, offering a close-up view of the basins where salt crystallises and an insight into how the harvesting machinery works, as part of the “Cavadura 2026” event.

From the Salina di Cervia Visitor Centre, we set off in an electric boat (a very simple vessel with wooden benches that can carry around 30 people), which glides silently along the canals surrounding the salt pan. We reach the salt pans, where, upon arriving at a jetty, we disembark and continue on foot along the banks of the salt pans to see the heart of the saltworks’ production.

The length of the walk may vary depending on where the salt-harvesting machine is located.

To reach this wonderful spot, we’ll need to board the boat and duck down for a few moments to pass under a small brick bridge. During this experience, we’ll be immersed in incredible views of water and sky; we’ll discover the origin of the famous ‘Sale Dolce di Cervia’ and a curious halophyte used in cooking, Salicornia (the ‘salt-lover’); we’ll get to touch the mud first-hand and take some wonderful souvenir photos.
